Congratulations are extended to Keith Dagg on being inducted to the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame. I had the pleasure of attending the dinner on Saturday evening where 8 very deserving individuals and groups were honoured. Keith´s efforts to support and grow sport in this community were applauded and rightfully so, seems like he was often a Bridesmaid in Curling events in which he competed but his love of this sport as well as golf and soccer have helped put Victoria on the map, and continue to keep it there. Congratulations Keith well deserved.

Hi Everybody I hope you are all getting used to the idea that curling time has arrived, a couple of small but important reminders.
Please register online I cannot express how important that is please complete this at home to avoid long excruciating lineups. Please make sure to enter your information correctly and follow down to the bottom of the registration where you can submit and post a proposed invoice. This invoice will include suggested amounts for league fees but does not include items such as parking passes, or ancillary league fundraising fees that apply to some leagues.
You´ll never miss a shot on Ice 2 again!!! That is literally a bold statement but it is true our sheets now correspond to our new curling rocks so what was once Sheet 1 is Sheet A, Sheet 2 is Sheet B, so if you are checking your schedule online please follow the pattern if you get to Sheet I you´ve gone to far and risk hitting a parked vehicle.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.
|2013-09-18:||Please join me in welcoming our new Office Assistant Deanna Jones. Deanna began her new position on Monday, September 16th. Please stop by the office and introduce yourself and say hello. Rebecca will continue to work in the office on weekends and a few shifts in the bar. Thank you to Rebecca for getting us through a difficult period. Don|
Well as I write this Al and Kevin are applying a flood to sheet C, yes there will be some modest changes this year. The new rocks which we are all excited to use have precipitated a minor change the rock handles will be identified by numbers 1-8 as usual but the sheets will be specified A-H.
For those of you who haven´t registered online either as an individual or team please do so today don´t delay any longer, your league coordinators are anxious to see how many teams they have for the leagues. Registering is very easy if you can open and read this email you can register.
There are still openings in several leagues so perhaps this year you broaden your depth of play and meet some other great curlers from the community. Sunday Night and Tuesday Night Ladies are both accepting new members.
Café and Bar
We will be offering refreshments and nourishment to you are members starting next week. With the start of the regular curling leagues you´ll see that our full menu will be offered with tasty daily specials while next weeks menu will be somewhat limited. We hope that you enjoy the changes we have made to the café and that you support that segment of our business. Your comments are always welcome.
The pro-shop offerings are pretty scant at the moment but will increase in the coming weeks. We will however be offering a full range of curling supplies from the major manufacturers if there is a specific product you know you need please let me know and I will order what would like.
Al and the ice crew are working hard to have the ice ready for late this week. Also a reminder if you have not done so please register both teams and individual players on your team online ASAP. Registering in advance will save you time when you attend the office to pay your curling fees.

Hello VCC members and curlers:
The office will re-open on Tuesday, September 3/13, that is the start date for our new general manager Mike Morrissey. We have short listed candidates for the full time office assistant position; however, I don’t expect a person to be hired until later in September. In the mean time Mike will be on his own in the office for the next few weeks, with the assistance of Rebecca our part-time office assistant, and a Board of Directors’ Transition team. One of Mike’s goals is to modernize the office and registration process, this cannot be achieved for this curling season, so individual and team registrations will need to be done by filling out forms. We are asking for your patience as we get the curling season up and running. You will notice improvements and changes over the upcoming months as we work to enhance your curling experience.
Don McMullen - President
